The key is the bracketed chip, about a twelfth the width of the frame it is wired to. Everything inside that frame is the key applied to itself: the lit blocks are the key, and so are the lit cells inside them. The key also rules it, widening each row and column to its weight, so one block commands the field. One cell, held in the hue reserved for the wiring, overruns to three cells on a side.
